On April 19th we headed to Dallas, TX to park at Fair Park for a few days to put the skoolie on exhibit for all to see! This was our first tiny house show so we really had no idea what to expect. Before we get into the not so gory details, we would like to thank B.A. Norrgard from www.abedovermyhead.com for the opportunity and for all her work throughout the years to even make this tiny house exhibit come to be.
Hanging out with the other exhibitors was a blast. We got to learn new things from each other and form life lasting bonds. Before the actual Earth Day Event opened, we heard all kinds of crazy stories from last year. Last year the exhibit was free and the traffic through the time homes was just insane! Due to it being free there were some unbelievable things that took place. For example, poo being removed from a composting toilet by a child.... What?!? They had us terrified! However, this year they managed the event a little different and there was a $5 entrance fee. This really seemed to help ensure that the visitors were genuinely interested which made their time and our time much more enjoyable.
Thursday evening we had a soft opening for all the volunteers, but day one was a Friday. Most people have to work on Friday so the flow was good and steady, but not crazy. This gave us the opportunity to really connect with the visitors and spend time with everyone who wanted to chat or ask questions which was great. Saturday we had a cold front roll in, but despite the weather we had a very busy day. It was still very controlled and we got to chat with visitors that really wanted to speak with us. Sunday the sun was shining again and even though it seemed more busy, numbers show that Saturday had a little bit more traffic. Overall, during the three days the event was open we had around 4000 people roll through the skoolie!

It was amazing hearing the responses from everyone when they came into the bus. Everyone was super excited to see the bus and very supportive of our lifestyle choice. It's very cool to have such positive feedback on a project that you put so much of yourself into. The big question is.... Would we exhibit the bus again??? The answer is simple, YES, in fact we would love to!! The experience was great. We really loved sharing information with others and inspiring others to go after their dreams!
